Hi there, Im really worried about my weight im about 5ft 10 and im 21 years old and im extremely underwieght. When I stayed with my mum she cooked me a lot of big meals and I went from 8 stone to 8 and a half but it took ages for me to put on weight and ive got my own house now and I half lost a stone and a half so im now just under 7 and a half as I have not been eating the same as I cant afford to buy decent meals. I dont have a lot of knowledge about weight gain and working out but I have been trying to read up on it. I purchased pro mass 4.5kg and was wondering how i can get the best results. I work night shift so i dont have breakfast as I finish at 7am and go to bed when I wake up I have my lunch and then my dinner and my last meal is at work around 1.30am but sometimes I skip lunch. I just need some advice on using this as im looking to gain a lot of weight and roughly how long it would take to put on a stone or if I need any other product to take along with this. many thanks

the promass is an excellent choice as its exactly what you need.

basically you need to eat more calories than you burn, and you need to lift weights. my advice is do a push pull legs routine. this means on monday do the pushings which is chest , shoulders and triceps. on wednesday do legs and abbs . and on friday do the pulling which is back and biceps. so its only 3 sessions per week and each session should last for about 45 mins, no more than an hour . try and find a good push pull legs split on the net or off a friend or a training, which explains the exact exercises and the exact reps and sets. if you cant find one come back here and ask

as for the eating you will obviously have to eat a lot, and thats were promass helps cos it contains a lot of calories. you need to spread your dailly calories over 6 meals spaced every 2-3 hours. i know this may be difficult with your odd working shedule but if you plan then you can find a solution that suits you.

each meal needs to contain a portion of protein and a portion of complex carbs. then you need to add fruit to about 2 meals, veg to at least 2 meals and healthy fat like olive oil and flaxseed oil to some meals

a good example would be :

meal 1-eggs and brown toast, banana, a spoon of olive and flax oil
meal 2-promass and an apple
meal 3- brown rice, chicken , veg, spoon of olive and flax oil
meal 4-promass
meal 5 -baked potatoe, steak, veg, spoon of olive and flax oil
meal 6- cottage cheese on brown toast

try something like that out for a week and then get on the scale . if youve gained a pound then stick with it. if you havent gained weight then i would suggest counting caloires (if so come back and ask for correct advice about that)

the lengh of time it will take to put on a stone depends really on wether you looking for a stone of pure muscle or you are ok with gaining some fat too. as far as muscle goes the best you can hope for is 1 pound of muscle gained per week therefore it would take 14 weeks to gain a stone of muscle .
however if you have no problem gaining some fat too (which i dont think you should have a problem with as you are extremely light in weight) then you could gain 2 pound a week which would be about 1 pound of fat and 1 pound of muscle . so in that case it would take you 7 weeks to gain a stone

if its just muscle gain you want then you only need a slight increase in caloires. but if you dont mind a bit of fat too then you can increase calories in a more extreme manor

as for extra products pro recovery is an absolute must. its essential. take it straight after weight training and then 1 hour later have one of your other meals. creatine is also worth taking , i wouldnt say its essentail like the pro recovery but its definately worth using .
