Hello Kerry.
I've heard alot about you recently and read a recent article in Muscle and Fitness mag about your input into changing someones body shape in a short time. I dont have a short time, this is lifestyle for me now.
I train in a gym in Ashton been there for sometime. My question is for some help and information. I am having trouble gaining muscle weight.
I used to weigh 220lbs with BF % about 22%, I went down to about 158lbs
I now weigh 173lbs with BF% about 10%
My current training is along the dogg crapp training program, rest pause training. I train one day on one day off for an hour at a time.
My short term goal this year was to gain 10lb oflean muscle. My final goal is to be in the same shape and similar size to Tyson or Wesley Snipes. My problem is diet, as I was clinically odese before my fear is never to get in that shape again in my life, so I find againing muscle really difficult.
Can you please recommend any training or diet advice for me to gain lean muscle.
I currently use he flowing supplements.
LA Musce Norateen
BSN NO Explode
Optiumum Nutriion 100% whey, although I should eat it everyday and tend not to do thi enough.
Can you help.
Regards
John

Before Kerry replies to this, ditch the products you're taking and change them for Pro Peptide and Pro Recover. If you're not taking any post workout supplements then you're gonna diminish returns greatly. If you feel a pre-workout supplement would benefitt then use Pro GF (I have used both NO-XPLODE and Pro GF. Pro GF works and tastes better, and you get more for your money).
It'd be best if you post your exact diet up here so we can be sure.

I agree with Shirty regarding supplements. You can't go wrong with CNP, trust me I have tried a lot of brands and would always recommed CNP over any other.
Replace your whey with Pro-Peptide as this will provide your body with different sources of protein rather than just the one, giving your body a sustained release of amino acids. This gives it anabolic and anticatabolic properties.
Use Pro-Recover post workout which contains high GI carbs as well as fast whey for recovery. Whey alone isn't the best option.

This is a cnp forum,
KK might take offence because you are taking other brands supps, then asking advice,
I would IF it was me
I own a gym and some of my customers shun my supps, it does pee me off a little
then buy garbage on the net-then ask me why they are not working LOL

Hi,
Thanks for the varied replys. A couple of small things really. I bought the supplements on the internet, fair enough. But does that make them any less of a supplement than if I bought it at a gym. No. There made in the same place under the same conditions.
I understand that you have a gym and this may pee you off, coz everyone has overheads. But its a buyer market.
As for me buying garbage, I dont think other brands are better or worse than CNP. I've used BSN, Optimum, LA Muscle, so this isn't cheap crap from H and B or GNC own brand.
If Kerry takes offence then all I can do is simply appologise for my past choices of supplements and ask for his reccomendations as to which supplements and training he reccomends a guy with my stats.
Also to note, as you have a gym, arn't you taking business away from betterbodies in denton.
I also asked about supplements and training hoping to get some guidance, with the intension of buying CNP and looking at betterbodies gym again with the intension of going to do a session.
I read an article about Kerry recently in M and F, this brought me to this site, I'm sure you reccomend CNP and use CNP, but does that mean you have always used CNP , So you never bought another brand, had little money so had to settle for an inferior product, or decided to try something else. Probably.
Hope this doesn't offend.
J
Thanks again for your suggestions, I'll have a look at the different protein supplements CNP produce and consider dumping BSN in favour of GF.

kk - Hi John,
I do not take offence on your post, I understand that you buy supplements based on advertisements and hype and thats the way of the world but trust me CNP the best brand, I know what goes into my and a lot of other supplements.
What we did in 12 weeks with Scott Wright was pretty special and I am proud of it, I have had plenty of practice on 12 week transformations with Ricky Hatton.
With Scott we had to cut back on his kcalories (units of energy) to enable him to lose body fat but had to increase his nutrients to help him repair from the trauma of training, it's and easy process to follow.
1) Training, you send a signal to the body that it is inadequate for the load that you place on it.
2) The body needs to recuperate and repair from the trauma of number 1)
3) The body compensates and makes itself fitter, faster, stronger.
2 and 3 demand a lot of nutrients and if your body gets enough nutrients for number 2 and number 3 to be completed it's next number 1 will be more efficient yet we have got to cut back on food because we can;t afford the kcalories, this is where quality supplementation comes in. Here is Scott's Diet
Scott Wright Supplement Diet Sheet
1 Pro MR or porridge with Pro Peptide
4 Pro Vital AM Capsules
1 Pro Vital AM Tablet Breakfast.
4 Pro Lipid 2-3 Pro CLA
1 Serving Pro GF 30-45 mins before training (when you leave home).
1 Pro Slam As you arrive at the gym.
Train 8am-9am
1 serving Pro Recover Immediately after training.
1 Pro Flapjack For snack if required.
Clean Meal Chicken/fish/turkey
Potatoes/rice/pasta – lots of green veg.
Clean Meal Chicken/fish/turkey
Potatoes/rice/pasta – lots of green veg.
Pro Slam Immediately before run.
Aerobic/CV workout approx 6/7pm
1 serving Pro Recover Immediately after run.
Pro MR Half an hour before bed.
1 Pro Vital Tablet
1 Pro Vital Capsule Sometime in the afternoon or
4 Pro Lipid Capsules 2-3 Pro CLA evening.
You can not drink enough water throughout the day. I suggest a minimum of 4 litres.
The reason there are a lot of supplements on this diet is because you can get a lot of
nutrients in a low Kcalorie environment.
If your nutrition was solid food alone then you could not afford the Kcalories to get
the nutrition required.
Always mix your Pro MR, Pro Peptide, Pro Recover and Pro GF with water.
If you want to snack you can have a Pro Flapjack or better still as much green veg you
want whenever you want.
As you are getting nutrients throughout the day in food or supplements this will speed up
your metabolism.

Hi Jonny,
i wasnt having a go fella,
i was just trying to point out that as this is a cnp site, it might not be diplomatic to talk about other brands.
My gym is based in Lincolnshire so i would doubt whether people would want to travel from
Denton [unless they owned a helicopter]
I see your diary on the training page,
good luck with your goals and i am sure there are plenty of people whom will help you.
By the way,bsn were recently taken to court over scamming customers, with misleading ingrediant claims on noxplode [something you wont see CNP do]

A serving of Pro-Recover is 2 scoops (80 grams) mate.
This will provide you with approx 24 protein and 48 carbs.

Hi Kerry,
Thanks for your advice, really helpful.
One more question, well acctually two. I've decided to give the CNP range a go.
If you could choose a couple of supplements from the CNP range which would they be? I usually use a pre workout supplement and need to up my protein to what I think is about 200gms per day.
My carb content per day is about 350gms, protein has only been about 100gms this needs increased, fats are usually about 80grm.
My second question is do you have a shop at betterbodies that sells CNP supplements.
Again any advice or guidance will be really appreciated and useful,
Thanks again kerry

kk - If you are only going to have 2 products and you like a pre workout, try the Pro GF.
Pro GF is a blend of nutrients specifically designed to enhance strength and stamina. You can read ,more about it here
http://www.cnpprofessional.co.uk/product_info.php?osCsid=90483e5df667b7f39ffd836d00 3221d6&products_id=76
The other product would be Pro Recover or Pro Peptide. Pro Recover is designed to immediately get nutrients into the body after the trauma of training including protein but if you want to increase your protein and you are going to use powder then Pro Peptide is the only truly undenatured protein on the market, you can read about it here.
