kk - We all have maintenance Kcals, that is the amount of kcals in carbs fats and proteins that maintain our bodyweight. Bodybuilding is unique because you are always chasing a weight gain (except when you are dieting for shows) so you may have a situation where 3500 Kcals is more than you need and your body puts weight on, eventually your body when it gets bigger will level out its weight gain because 3500 Kcals is now maintenance. Then you up your Kcals to 3750 which is now more than you need and you body starts to gain weight again. You have simply caught up to your maintenance Kcals.
I would increase my Kcals in carbohydrates and keep a close eye on your body fat, if you start gaining weight but you feel it is body fat only, then instead of all the extra Kcals being carbs, change it to 50-50 carbs/protein.
