Hello Kerry

Tony again from the emporium gym in birmingham, Just a quick question my self and warren have used a ursi, juniper herbal formula when working with bodybuilders alongside vitamin c to help push out water from the body during later stages of a diet.

Would this ursi, juniper formula be ok to use with vit c on a boxer to get the last bit of water out of him before his weigh in?? We think it would just not sure of how it fits with boxers and there drug tests etc as it is a tiltle fight.

As always your opinion is valuable

Thanks Kerry

kk - Hiya mate, how are you?

Don't forget when you are dropping water as a bodybuilder with extremely low body fat, small amounts make a massive visual difference.

When dropping water for a boxer, you are not doing it for a visual, you are doing it for him to make a weight and within 5 minutes of him making that weight, you are trying to add water as without water he cannot carb up properly (glycogen) to give him reserves of energy for the fight. Personally I wouldn't do it with a boxer.

Solgar make a Ursi Juniper formula so i'll guarantee you it will be a good one but there are many water drop formulas in any high street chemists that women use when they are having a period.

thanks kerry

It was the solgar one we were thinking of using along side 10-15grams of vit c 2 days before weigh in, would you sugest just using the vit c then??

thanks tony

kk - As I said, I really don't think you need it, the vitamin C is a water soluble vitamin and taking 10 grams would make the boxers body flush it out. You are not trying to get him as a dry as a bodybuilder.

Thanks for the info kerry.

As the boxer is very light and still 3 4 lbs off were he needs to be to weigh in am i right in thinking by cutting his water the night before he will lose a couple pounds in his sleep without using vit c.

Sorry to pester you with same questions

kk - I presume you mean 3 or 4 lbs and not 34 lbs!! lol

If he stops his water, he will carry on urinating and 2 litres of water is 4 lbs in weight so he will easily carry on urinating 3 or 4 lbs out but you must give him the Pro Hydrate, I designed this to make sure that athlete were hydrated. Once he has taken the Pro Hydrate, tell him to take the Pro Energy drink.
