when dieting for a show-how do you know when you are ready?
a lot of bodybuilders like to get ready 1-2 weeks before the show.
at your gym,i suppose there is a lot of experienced guys to help.
what if its your first show and you are doing it alone,
how do you know what your finnished look is?
how do you gauge it?
did you go it alone or did someone help you?
p.s. my uncle trained at sumfis gym,[pete almond] i read you trained there-back in the day,
he was natural-very strong though, he held the record at arthurs gym urmston[benching]
i believe it was 420pounds.back in the 70s-80s sometime.the lads used to have about 6 pints of guiness after training.LOL

kk - A lot of people when assessing whether they are ready (for a show) tend to look in the bathroom mirror and do a most muscular and assess their abs and chest and yes, it looks great in the bathroom mirror.
I am honestly not being big headed here, I think I could get myself ready for a show (not now, 15 years ago) if I was blind. Its simple. Pinch the skin on the back of your hands, it will be about 5mm (quarter of an inch), now pinch your abs, if you are in good condition it should be just a little bit more, NOW pinch the top of your hamstrings and the back of your waist, you'll find its a lot more. Thats where bodybuilders go wrong, they assess their physiques (body fat) on the mirror in their house.
The back double bicep pose is the pose where the judges assess your body fat a lot more than your muscularity and its the rear of your physique, thats normally where the body fat is the last to come off but because you have looked at your abs and they are ready, it doesnt mean you are ready.
Have a little experiment, close you eyes, pinch the back of your hand, then your abs, then your chest, its probably not bad up to now, now pinch your lower back and your ***, you'll find that is where the fat will be.

kk - Great, Im glad you understand.
If you weigh yourself, don't get caught up in standing on the scales everyday especially at different times, this is not a good way if you are doing a contest, if you are just randomly weighing yourself once a month then no problem.
The best way to do it is to weigh yourself first thing in the morning when you have got out of bed, before youve had a drink and before you have been to the toilet. This will give you your true body weight without fluctuations in fluids.
Great, I would love to see the before and after pictures.
