Hi Kerry just wondered whilst Im not training weights is it still worth eating the diet as though I am training. I think its going to be a few more weeks before I can get back on the weights yet. I want to start doing my legs but Im guessing its only worth doing them once a week. As my legs have always been way behind my upper body. And Im also wanting to start cardio, but I dont want to lose any muscle. What is the best way to go about doing this. Would it be jogging or even walking and for what length of time. Im definately starting back at Monday to do cardio, been in twice this week on Monday and Wednesday and was going to come and see you but I didnt see you in there !!

kk - You should be eating a clean and healthy diet whether you train or not, the only difference is you need less kcalories when you don't train. If you don't want to lose muscle and as you are not using them, I suggest you eat 1gram of protein per lb of body weight (2.2 per kilo), when you start training, up this to 1.5grams per lb of bodyweight (3.3 per kilo).

I cant remember (sorry) your injury but if it upper body and your legs are lacking then, yes, train your legs, bring them up. You will find providing you can put full effort into your legs (if it is an upper body injury you might not be able to) they will grow better than they have ever done as they will be getting 7 days per week of your nutrition as your upper body will not be robbing any.

If you are doing CV work to lose body fat and not to get fit, just do anything between 60 and 80% effort, depending on your fitness levels as this will burn body fat before glycogen.

Thanks mate, yeah, thats what I was thinking, my diet will still be clean but I was wondering if I needed to consume as much as when training, obviously the answer is no. I just dont want to waste everything I have bought over the last month by eating it or taking all the shakes if its not going to benefit me. My injury is to my neck / upper traps. I did a little set on legs on Monday and felt fine.

Also, re the cardio, is this the 220 - your age ie 27 = 193. 60-80% of this figure. So if I work at a heart rate of around 150 I should be burning fat.

kk - yes the formula is 220- your age and then depending on your fitness levels 60% - unfit 70% average 80% reasonably fit but dont get hung up on precision, precise beats per minute, this is only a rough average.
