Hey KK, I have been using ultimate nutrition liver tablets (desicated liver) for a while now and believe its a great product.

kk - We were using desicated liver 30 years ago, when I first started bodybuilding in a gymnasium called Sunfis, in fairness to dessicated liver it was the only supplement we took (it was the only supplement you could get hold of). It's obviously a protein source but do not think that you can get the amount of protein you require from this supplement. It will give you plenty of vitamin B and it is high in iron. Sounds great, high levels of iron are bad for you especially if you are not aneamic (and it is easy to have too much iron if you are having too many dessicated liver tablets). I suggest you go to your doctor and ask for a ferritin blood test as high levels of ferretin caused by having too much iron in your system is detremental to the production of testosterone.

Believe this or not, there are concerns amongst some Doctors that even cooking regularly in iron pots can increase you levels of iron about acceptable amounts.

Obviously all this depends on why you are taking Dessicated Liver, do not take it for a protein supplement, there are much better ways.

Absolutely correct - a big concern at one time in commercial kitchens was the effect the metals had on health when a copper-lined pan (commonly used in hotels/restaurants) "wore out", exposing the base irons below.

Legislation requires they are re-lined or replaced before hitting that critical point.

Interesting, i have been recommended to take at least 12 tablets a day, i know they are not my main protein source, my main source is pro peptide and of course chicken

kk - Just be very careful of your iron levels.

kk - CNP has never sold dessicated liver tablets, sports nutrition has moved on a lot. I said that I used them at least 30 years ago probably more but as we knew little and the word liver makes you think protein, we used to take them as a protein supplement so we all took too much, a few of the lads at Sumfis gym ended up with medical problems and I remember the Doctors put it down to excess use of dessicated liver. The question is, why are you using dessicate liver tablets, for what reason and what are you expecting to get out of them?

As I have mentioned earlier, too much iron in the system will stop the production of testosterone.

I started to take them because they sounded great, suppose to send more oxygen to the blood cells and of course extra protein content, Kerry be straight with me, if you recall on my diet would i be better off adding Pro MR into my diet?

kk - You obviously dont know me, I only tell the truth and am always straight, ask anyone who knows me, yes, I make a very good living out of bodybuilding but you would be amazed how much i put into bodybuilding and would not sell inferior products to people who are trying to build muscle in a sport that they and I love. Of course adding the only truly undenatured protein with many added extras such as Pro MR in your diet would be beneficial.

No i dont know u kerry but i do believe you in what you say and if there is anyone i would listen to on this forum it would be you.

So ok scrap the liver tablets, Pro MR comes with 20 servings so i was thinking of doing this please correct me if im wrong.

On my training days, (mon, tues, thurs, fri) add Pro MR to my usual diet which u have seen in my first post to you.

My question to you now is at what point of the day should i take it? Around 7:30 when i finish work, or in between breakfast and lunch?

Thanks again kerry

kk - If you are bodybuilding you need to comsume more protein than the average person but it is not just how many grams (we recommend 1 and a half grams per pound of body weight or 2.2 per kilo) but it is when you take it and also the quality of that protein.

You eat protein, your body breaks it down into amino acids, your body then goes to that pool of amino acids and prioritises its needs. 1) Daily turnover of cells 2) Repair of muscle tissue from training 3) Making that muscle tissue stronger, bigger, faster.

Common sense says if you have got a pool of amino acids in your system 24 hours a day, 7 days a week your body is always going to have the building blocks it requires.

Pro MR will give you 42 grams of fast and slow release (7 hours in total) quality protein with added specific amino acids and a very viable count of probiotics which will keep your digestive tract in order making it easier for you to assimilate your nutrition.

Your question, when should I take Pro MR, it truly relates to what time and when you eat your other protein. Example:-

I get up in the morning, first thing I do is have a Pro MR, that will give me 7 hours of protein, until about 2 in the afternoon, about that time I have a protein meal which I hope will last for about 3 hours. At 5 or 6 Oclock again i have a protein meal and just before I go to bed i will have another Pro MR which will last me through the night. i am no longer a bodybuilder (I'm 58 with lots of injuries) but I still want adequate amounts of protein in my system readily available to my body, I work 10-12 hours a day as I enjoy my work. You, as a bodybuilder will need more protein than I need so the only way I can answer your question is Pro MR will give you adequate amounts of protein for a timed release period, now as you need more protein I don't suggest you wait 7 hours, there is nothing wrong with protein being released in an overlapping digestive way.

The name of the game is to consume protein 5 or 6 times a day and it probably needs to be a minimum of 40 grams, Pro MR will clean out your system for all the solid protein you eat and take away the monotony of eating protein food and financially its cheaper than protein food.

Great post kerry, really simplified it for me..

So ok heres my sketch of protein intakes like you showed me your example. I will now add Pro MR into the equation too.

I get up, pro peptide see me through 2-3 hours.

Pro MR about 11 o clock.

Protein meal for lunch (chicken/turkey)

Pro-recover after training which see's me through an hour

Dinner which again is a protein meal (either chicken/turkey or red meat)

Supper is again protein meal jacket potaoe and tuna which see's me through till bed time where then i will take pro peptide shake which will then see me through the night.

I only want to take Pro MR 4 times a week so a box of it will last me a full month, so should i take it on my four training days i suppose?

kk - Yeah, thats fine mate. You are drip feeding your body with protein so it has all the amino acids (building blocks) to cover the bodies daily turnover of cells, recovery and repair from the workouts and then to replace muscle nuceii lost which will make the muscle ***r, faster stronger etc.
