Hiya

I was wondering how far I should be running a week its a great way to burn fat but I don't want to do to much. I'm currently 95kg (formerly 76kg) and have started back training after a 4 year lay off (seeing the world and getting married) and am now hitting the gym again.

Currently I do 1 session a week Boxing training and 4 sessions Weights (based on the info on CNP) I obviously need to stick a bit of CV work in there along the way so want to start doing a Saturday morning run how far do you think I should go?

I'd ideally like to get down to a lean 80/85 kg if that helps

How longs a piece of string !! Depends what you are doing the run for, to burn fat, just fitness, bit of both.

I know that feelilng mate !! Trying to do the same myself but cant stop eating junk at the min. Personally, Id go for a run for about an hour at a steady pace if it was me. Probably about 4-6 miles something like that, guess everyone is different, best way to lose weight is to burn more than you consume. You already do your boxing session plus weights, maybe do a 15-20 minute run 3-4 times a week after your training rather than just one run on one day.

its not really about how far you should run its about how many minutes you should run for. if you do steady state running then forget about how many miles you want to run just run at a steady pace for 45-60 minutes

on the other hand if you do interval running then just run for 20 mins

it really depends on your fitness. if someone was really out of shape then they shpuld start off walking and increase the time and distance and speed. for me, i would start with something easy to assess where you are. measure 1 mile and see if you can run it, and if so in what time. if you run the mile at a fast pace and you arent really out of breath, then you need to increase the distance. if you have to stop to catch your breath 3 times then keep on at it until you can do it without stopping. and then increase the distance. i would personally limit it to maybe 45 minutes to fit in with the rest of my training, work, diet, sleep etc.

Cheers for the advise guys, I'm going to do a little combo and have 2 sessions a week of just pure cardio for 1 hr (I read somewhere if I keep my heart rate under 130 I'll be in the fat burning zone)

Along with a 6k run on a Saturday morning.

That means 1 hour boxing on Tuesday
4 afternoons of weights
2 evenings of Cardio
1 Saturday morning run

Sundays are never going to look so good lol I'll be a MACHINE by Christmas :yesnod:

Sundays as a day of rest which is what your'll need, keep up like that and if your diet is good, you should be good shape..........shame i hate cardio so i'm fat hahahaha :-)
