i heard a while ago somewhere that you should never have any more than 24g whey protein in one go as any more than this will just go to waste as the body wont use it
and the more i thought about it it made sense as ive never seen a whey product than has more than 24g in one serving. im sure if you could have more than 24g in one go then companys would have been making products contain 30-35g whey in one serving
can any one confirm for sure that this is correct though or is it all speculation ?
ive got a load of whey in the house and i dont have any money for mr's or peptides which give you over 40g protein or even extra food or milk. problem is its hard to get your dailly protein needs using whey. if i have 6 meals , 3 meat and 3 whey im only getting about 135g protien per day

I think somewhere on the site or forum Kerry has explained this, without trawling through I seem to recall that you can only assimulate 20g or so due to it being a 'fast' protein, the pro peptide etc is a blend of wheys and micellar casein amongst other things and if my memory serves me right this slows the absortion into the body down and it becomes a 'time released' protein source allowing you to take in 40g or so.
The thread i was reading stated that it was only down to consumer demand that cnp produce 'whey protein' because everybody wants 'whey'. Given the choice they would not produce it and only manufacture the blends, peptides, mr's etc as they are much more effective

i still say that there is no evidence on the body having a set limit of protein it can absorb in one sitting. there are so many variables from the rate of breakdown of the protein, to the other substances ingested at the same time to your bodies own rates, your age, intestinal health. not forgetting timings of and compositions of other meals eaten.
i have never seen a study (a proper one anyway) that shows there is a limit on this. if anyone knows of one please let me know.
it does stand to reason that the body can only absorb so much of something in any given timeframe, but the limit could be 5g or it could be 200g.

Whey is quickly used so its best sticking to a blend like propep
or mix some other form of protein with your whey..
1g-2g of protein per pound of body weight.

I use pro pep morning and night but I must admit every shake inbetween, I use one and a half scoops of whey and one scoop of pro mass, which gives approx 37g of protein, I've found that this works for me as I'm steadily losing bodyfat whilst making steady gains, I do this puely for financial reasons as the MRs would be a bit too expensive for me, like I say, I find it works well but may not be appropriate for you
